There’s a difference between love and sex. The most recent cinematic example that comes to mind is Fifty Shades of Grey, the book and the film used sex to tell a bigger story about uninhibited erotic freedom. In contrast, the runways in each fashion capital last season and the couture shows this season, all seem to focus primarily on love and romance. And because most great loves are layered and sometimes complicated, designers showed a lot of intricate embellishments on garments some of which took weeks to make. This year’s Oscars red carpet wasn’t like that – per se.
The Academy Awards (Oscars) is known for classic glamorous moments. It’s not normal to find garments that focus on the edgier side of fashion on this red carpet. Simple gowns are generally found on lesser red carpets like the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, or the Independent Spirit Awards.
