Best wedding venues: Western Cape

Say hello to part four of this seven-part series on the best SA wedding venues (click for the best venues in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal). As before, I sat down with wedding pro Gaby Frescura, of SA bridal blog  SouthBound Bride, to find out her best picks of budget, mid-range and blowout wedding venues in the Western Cape. And guess what? You’ll be spoilt for choice!

Best budget venue:

Little Stream, Constantia

The lowdown: “This beautiful garden venue borders the picturesque Groot and Klein Constantia with a huge open lawn – perfect for picnic weddings and lawn games,” says Gaby. “There are lots of charming little nooks that make this feel like your very own secret garden. Ceremonies can be held in the gardens under a sprawling tree or a pretty arch – perfect if you’re after a budget, laidback day wedding.”

Best mid-range venue

: Babylonstoren, Paarl

The lowdown: “Two words describe this stunning venue: botanical bliss!” explains Gaby. “It’s a beautiful, organic-chic venue containing gardens inspired by those of the Dutch East India Company with hundreds of fruit trees, vegetables and herbs. You’ll also find delightfully well-preserved Cape Dutch architecture, from ornate gables to white-washed walls and thatched roofs. Both food and decor for this venue are straight from the gardens – fresh, seasonal, rustic and beautiful!”

Best blowout venue:

Molenvliet Wine Estate, Stellenbosch

The lowdown:

“This is easily one of SA’s most beautiful and luxurious wine farm venues, located on the Helshoogte Pass near Stellenbosch – even amongst so many gorgeous winelands venues, this is something special,” advises Gaby. “After a ceremony in the leafy gardens, guests make their way through the vineyards to the stately manor house for the reception – definitely a walk to remember! Plus, the elegant, white interior means the reception space is a blank canvas for your own decor vision.”
