4 easy steps to soft summer skin!

Okay, so we’re not saying that you can give up on your healthy diet and regular exercise, but getting your skin in great condition before bikini season starts can go a long way to boost your confidence! Here are four easy steps to getting your skin silky smooth:

- As with most skin routines, you have to start with exfoliation. Scaly, dry skin is never a good look, so brush your whole body with a body brush before you get into the shower. Use long, sweeping strokes and always in the direction of your heart. This helps boost circulation, eliminate toxins and exfoliate your skin.

- When you’re in the shower, continue your exfoliation with a salt or sugar body scrub. We love Caribbean Tan Cinnamon and Coconut Skin Smoothing Exfoliator

, R35.95. Try to avoid the ones with the little plastic beads, as they can scratch your skin, plus they aren’t great for the environment. If you’re prone to keratosis pilaris (those are the little bumps that normally appear on the backs of your arms), don’t use a body brush or scrub on those areas. Mechanical scrubbing can make the condition worse. Instead, use an enzymatic exfoliator like Lamelle’s Cathepzyme 2,

R416. A pumice stone is your best bet for very rough and dry areas like elbows, knees and feet.

- Apply body moisturiser that contains skin softening agents like The Body Shop Vitamin E Body Butter

, R150 or Nivea Irresistably Smooth Body Lotion

, R35.95 every day. This will help keeps your skin supple and even your skin tone.

-  If you want a golden glow, then you can also apply a self-tan. We love gradual tanners, as you can control the colour. Our faves are Palmers Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturizer

, R139.95 and St Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Body Lotion

, R197. Here are more self-tanners we recommend!
