Wear the Trend: Crop Tops

The crop top trend isn’t going anywhere, but the good news is that high-waisted pants and skirts are making it more accessible than ever, even for those of us who don’t have washboard stomachs.

Here’s how to wear the look!

Wear them with a high-waisted bottom

We saw a lot of the crop-top-and-high-waisted-skirt trend on the red carpet and now you can try it out yourself. Like Miley Cyrus, wear a high-waisted pencil skirt with heels, or you could go for high-waisted pants or shorts with pumps or sneakers.

Go for a loose fitting crop top

If you’re conscious about wearing a tight fitting top, wear a loose fitting tip with a slim pair of jeans, like Diane Kruger, or a tailored skirt to keep your look balanced. You can also go for an ’80s-inspired sporty look by wearing a printed boxy crop top with short sleeves and dungarees.

Cover up with longer sleeves

If you still feel conscious about showing some skin, maybe wearing longer sleeves like Taylor Swift will make you feel more covered up! Mid- or long-sleeved crop tops are also great for cooler days, and for a ’90s-inspired look, wear them with rolled up boyfriend jeans and chunky ankle boots.

Wear a matching two-piece outfit

This is a great look for dressier occasions. Try a standout colour like red, or something more neutral like navy, depending on the event. And don’t be afraid to experiment with stripes like Beyoncé’s hot Topshop two-piece (stripes look good on anyone!), or tropical or Aztec print two-pieces.

Wear it with a maxi skirt

Another fashionable way to cover up is to wear a maxi skirt. This is also a great summer look – wear it with flip-flops and over your bikini at the beach, of if you’re a city slicker, try low-top sneakers for the day and chunky ankle boots and a hat at night.
