Olivia Palermo on why she won’t drop her maiden name

Olivia Palermo wants to use her maiden name rather than her new married name.

The 28-year-old actress tied the knot with her beau Johannes Huebl in June, but she’s adamant she won’t change her surname to match her new husband’s because she’s fond of her birth name.

Speaking to HELLO! Fashion Monthly magazine, she said: “I love Palermo and Johannes understands that. I can be Mrs Huebl at home. I think the key to any relationship is really understanding and respecting each other. It helps that we work in the same industry as we can bounce ideas off each other and we get to work together a lot. And Johannes is always romantic.”

The couple – who started dating in 2008 before getting engaged in 2013 – don’t feel ready to start a family just yet as they are keen to focus on their careers.

The former City star explained: “I feel really fortunate to be doing something I love and feel passionate about, and hopefully it will continue to grow. If we choose to start a family at some point that would be great, but right now I think I have my hands full. One step at a time. There’s no rush.”

Meanwhile, the blonde beauty, who got married in front of close family and two friends at a quiet park in Bedford, New York, is planning to have a second wedding so that their extended relatives and large friendship circle can celebrate the occasion with them.

She said of the intimate nuptials two months ago: “You know it was a nice, small quiet day for family and at some point we will do something a little bit bigger.”
