Here’s how Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith keep their marriage alive!

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith keep their marriage alive by having dates in the garden.

The couple, who got married in 1997, believe it’s important to spend some time alone with one another in order to keep their romance alive, but they would rather bond at their house than sit in a luxury restaurant surrounded by people watching them.

Speaking in October’s issue of Health magazine, Jada said: “A lot of times, we’ll do it [have a date] at the house because when we go out it can be a little hectic.”

The loved-up duo – who have 16-year-old son Jaden and 13-year-old daughter Willow together – thoroughly enjoy setting up a tent in their garden and chilling out under the stars while sipping on glasses of wine.

She explained: “We have different places around our yard where we like to set up a little Arabian tent, pillows, wine and cheese, candlelight. Will likes really thought out productions.”

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old actress recently admitted she is “ecstatic” about the way her 17-year marriage with the 45-year-old hunk has evolved over time.

She said previously: “Will, to me, encompasses everything. It’s almost as if calling him ‘my husband’ is too small of a word for what he means in my life … I think I had a very stuck idea of what a husband looks like, what a wife should be. Once I broke all of that, a whole new world opened for me and man, oh, man, I got to see him in all his glory. And so that’s what it’s evolved into. And I’m just ecstatic about it.”

Meanwhile, Will also has 21-year-old son Trey from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.

Jada also believes putting “trust” in her children is the best form of parenting.

The actress doesn’t punish her kids when they misbehave because she wants them to learn from their own mistakes while they’re still young.

Also in Health magazine, Jada – who is also a step-mother to Will’s 21-year-old son Trey – said: “People have always got on us about not punishing the kids, and let me just talk to you about that for a minute. We raised three kids before Willow and Jaden, and especially on my goddaughter, I put so many boundaries on her, ‘No, you can’t do that, you can’t do this.’ And everything I tried to control, every freaking thing I was trying to avoid, happened. I learned a lot from that experience and realised that while Willow and Jaden are still with me and have a safety net, I want to give them the opportunity to make mistakes and learn how to put boundaries on themselves. So by the time they’re out of the house, they fly.”

Meanwhile, the stunning star admits she’s not worried by the process of ageing and thinks the most important thing is to have beauty from within.

She explained: “I’ve never looked at myself as, like, a beauty. I’m not sore on the eye, but I know there’s always going to be somebody more beautiful–always. My grandmother used to say to me, ‘It’s not about what you look like on the outside. It’s what you look like on the inside.’ So she helped me learn at an early age to be well-rounded, to be spiritual, to be compassionate.”
