Their slogan says it all: beer, bread, bubbles. Jason Bakery is known for its variety of bread – from white to brown to rye, as much as they are for their amazing coffee. Want something delicious to go with your Flat White? Try their bacon peanut butter maple croissant, or BAB (bacon, avo and Brie) sandwich.
Whether you’re stopping in for your morning takeout cup at Deluxe’s Metal Lane store, browsing the papers during a coffee break at the Church Street branch or enjoying good company and good music along with your caffeine fix at the shop in Roodehek Street, you’ll feel like a regular from your first visit.
The CBD branch has been named the best coffee shop in the world, partly due to its industrial revolution-styled decor but its also due to the main attraction: a 1950s coffee machine called Colossus. There’s also a branch in Green Point if the hustle and bustle of the city centre isn’t your scene.

An artisan coffee shop with affordable prices? Sounds like a winner to us! Not only do they have delicious coffee and some of the best gourmet burgers, salads and sandwiches, but they also have an online shop where you can buy some stylish hoodies.

Rhubarb and Lime Cafe
This is an upmarket retro-chic coffee shop with unique wall decor and some of the best cupcakes and other baked treats you’ll ever taste! They also source their coffee from Truth in Cape Town, so you know it’s good!

This is a vibrant colourful restaurant that supports local farms and has local produce. Apart from delicious coffee, they have fresh breads, muffins, sandwiches, tarts and all sorts of savoury and sweet treats. Over the weekend, they have buffet breakfasts. Inside the Colombo Coffee roastery is the Factory Café. It’s a huge space that’s also an art gallery and venue for musical performances so you can be a fixture during the day and at night!

Started up by former Just Jingjer musician Ard Matthews and photographer, Deborah Good, this coffee spot boasts world-class baristas, hanging lights and the best three-bean organic coffee blend from Ethiopia.
A Scandinavian-style coffee roastery and espresso bar in the Joburg CBD, Father Coffee is a favourite spot for trendy local bloggers, creatives and corporates. It’s also a brand of coffee that you can enjoy, along with waffles and ice-cream, six days a week.
Fancy some delicious cupcakes with your coffee? Then Wolves should be right up your alley. Their famous red velvets, sandwiches and free wifi should be enough to make you a regular, but in case it isn’t they also have lots of musical events, including Howl, which we’ve featured in GLAMOUR Guides.
