How to style sports luxe

Sportswear has been a huge trend on the runways – but we’re not talking about running shorts and takkies! Sports luxe is the high fashion take on sportswear – designers like Alexander Wang and fashionistas like Rihanna, Rita Ora and Gwen Stefani have worn the style too. Read on to find out how to wear the trend!

The essentials

Sports luxe essentials include snapbacks, sweatshirts, baseball shirts, leather shorts and skirts, sweatpants and sneakers. It sounds like a dream if you fancy yourself a tomboy – but if you prefer more feminine styles, keep in mind that the look is versatile enough to incorporate the girliest of items.

The key is to be comfortable and to incorporate anything that has a “sporty” element – so one option is to go for loose-fitting tops with tighter pants or a skirt, while another is to rock a tight crop top balanced with with looser sweatpants.

If you can’t seem to put away your heels, wear them with an oversized branded T-shirt or baseball shirt. You can accessorise with some cuffs and statement jewellery, a cap or beanie. On colder days, you can rock sweatpants with a biker jacket and wedge sneakers.

Grey sweatshirts are also an essential item – plus they go with pretty much anything. If you don’t know what to wear them with, here are three ways to look chic in them. This winter, you can rock them with leather shorts, Chuck Taylors and knee-high socks or stockings – both sporty and warm!

Accessories

Silver, gold and black accessories are your go-to items for the sports luxe look. Chain bracelets, cuffs and statement necklaces add the right amount of edge to your outfit. Beanies and snapbacks are also great – plus they’ll help get you through a bad hair day!
