Emma Stone calls out Andrew Garfield for a sexist comment

We didn’t think that it was news that men and women are equally capable of most tasks, but apparently it is to Andrew Garfield. Luckily for him, he’s got girlfriend Emma Stone to set him straight, as she did during a special kids’ Q&A for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

It all starts out adorably enough, with the star constructing a detailed answer for his young fan, who’s asked where Spider-Man got his costume. Spidey sewed his own costume, says Andrew, then the everyday sexism slips in when he says that Spiderman’s skill with a needle and thread is “a very feminine, kind of-“, which is as far as he gets before Emma steps in to question that idea. You can watch what happens next.

Don’t worry, Emma still adores Andrew– she was just teaching him a thing or two. As for the little boy who asked the question… well, we imagine he’ll think twice before voicing any any stereotyped opinions in later years.
