Rolene Strauss is Miss South Africa 2014

 

Rolene Strauss was crowned Miss South Africa 2014 at a glitzy ceremony at the Sun City Superbowl last night. The ceremony also had performances by Mi Casa, Bucie and Matthew Mole, complete with a live orchestra.

Strauss, who is a medical student from Bloemfontein, beat out 11 other hopefuls including 1st Princess Ziphozakhe Zokufa from the Eastern Cape and 2nd Princess Matlala Mokoko, who represented Limpopo. The panel of judges was made up of GLAMOUR’s very own editor, Pnina Fenster; one of our top 10 GLAMOUR’s Most GLAMOURous, Bonang Matheba; Amy Kleinhans-Curd who was Miss South Africa in 1992; magazine editor and writer, Kojo Baffoe; and Highveld Stereo presenter Anele Mdoda.

Her prize as Miss South Africa is a package including cash, a car and products valued at more than R1.3 million; as well as thousands of rands in cash and study bursaries to Varsity College to award to students in need.
