3 New designers to watch

With her edgy bleached crop, penchant for architectural coats and tiered, tie-dye dresses and devotion to SA designers, GLAMOUR Woman of the Year Felicity Spies, 29, fondly refers to Shakespeare when asked about her personal style: “If the world is a stage and we are its players, we need to dress the part.” The entrepreneur behind Joburg-based store Egality is “passionate about local talent”and sees her shop as a platform for standout designers like Avant Apparel, Joel Janse van Vuuren and Terrence Bray.

As we get ready to see some local fashion at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Cape Town, the stylista Felicity Spies shares her thoughts on which young SA designers to watch!

1 ‘Amber Jones. She’s a huge up-and-coming talent and she’s gearing up for big things this year.’

2 ‘Hugo Flear. He’s such a visionary and approaches fashion design from a very graphic perspective, which makes his creations are totally unique. (See some of his work in the September issue of GLAMOUR, out mid-August.)’

3 ‘Natalie Green. I discovered her not long ago, and she’s busy working on a new collection. I’m so excited to see what she creates in the next year or so.’
