UREA

What is it? It occurs naturally in the body, helps protein synthesis and supplies essential nitrogen.

Why do I need it? It reduces the amount of water that is lost through the epidermis, helps bind moisture within the skin, enhances the skin’s barrier function, and helps other products penetrate more effectively.

HYALURONIC ACID

What is it? A moisturiser that occurs naturally in the body and can can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water.

Why do I need it? Besides its ability to hold a serious amount of moisture within the skin (helping elasticity), it also helps to repair and protect the skin from further damage. As we age, our natural levels of hyaluronic acid depletes, so we need to top it up.

SQUALANE

What is it? An oily molecule found in olive oil, wheat germ oil, rice bran oil, and sometimes shark liver (so always check the label).

Why do I need it? It’s a super-lubricant that softens and smoothes the skin.

What is it? A natural fat that that is extracted from the Shea Tree and used as an emollient.

GLYCERIN

What is it? A sugar alcohol that can be extracted from natural sources, but most commonly is created through synthetic processes.

Why do I need it? It’s a great humectant suitable for sensitive skins.
