James Franco and Kate Hudson star in Good People

The Oz the Great and Powerful actor and The Reluctant Fundamentalist actress will lead the cast for the forthcoming thriller, which is based on Marcus Sakey’s novel of the same name, reports Deadline.

French actor Omar Sy, who was recently cast in the hotly anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past, will also star in the movie, which centres on an American couple living in London, who are in severe debt and steal R 2million from their dead neighbour, resulting in a chain of unfortunate events.

The film will be directed by Henrik Genz based on a script from Kelly Masterson, Paul Grellong and Christina Hodson.

Franco has proven to be a big hit at the box office this year, starring in Disney’s smash hit Oz the Great and Powerful as the Wizard of Oz and can also be seen alongside Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Selena Gomez in the salacious drama Spring Breakers. He will next star in This is the End, an outrageous comedy in the same vein as Pineapple Express, which will also feature Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen.

Hudson will next be seen in The Reluctant Fundamentalist and has a guest role on hit TV show Glee.

Good People will begin filming in May.
