Fake it like a pro

Kiss streaky marks and orangutan orange hands goodbye! This is how to get that ‘beach glow’ without looking like an Oompa Loompa – or leaving stains behind

Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Exfoliate! Before you slather yourself in fake tan make sure you polish your body with a body scrub. This will help remove dead skin cells and leave you with a perfected buffed body – ready for bronzing. TRY I Love…Exfoliating Shower Smoothie in Mango & Papaya (R59.95).

Prevent a streak disaster by working from the bottom up. Start with your feet first and blend your way up until you reach your neck and don’t forget to ask someone to help you cover those hard-to-reach places like your back. No helping hands? Try a bronzing spray instead. TRY Caribbeantan Tanning Spritzer (from R84.99).

To help prevent stained hands use a latex glove to apply your bronzer. No gloves? Don’t worry! Dunk a ball of cotton wool into fresh lemon juice and dab over your hands to eliminate streaks.

Make sure the fake tan has been absorbed and is 100% dry before putting on your clothes. Give your body a blast of hot air from a hairdryer (yes, really) to dry any lingering wet patches.

Don’t want to stain your sheets? Make sure you wear an old T-shirt to bed and put a large towel over your sheets to help keep them spotless.
