Winter cocktails!

If you think that cocktails are just for summer and can’t stand the thought of a chilly daquiri in a cold glass against your even colder fingers, we’ve got news for you: this season’s drinks menu has a number of options that’ll warm you from the inside out with spirits, spice and all things nice for winter.

To learn how it’s done, GLAMOUR headed to the bar at 15 on Orange. Murano bar’s décor is showy and fabulous, with dramatic lighting, high ceilings and a purple theme, but it’s also undeniably cosy. Whether you sit up to the bar or at one of the tables nearby, the atmosphere is an intimate, ideally suited to a catch-up with an old friend or getting a little closer to a special someone. There’s also the option of sitting on the wonderfully comfortable couches outside, but we’d suggest waiting until the warmer months for that.

Our favourite? Orange Alchemy: London dry gin, with deliciously fruity flavours of orange, mango and lime juice, plus coconut-infused sugar and tangy coriander. You’ll be had-pressed to stop at just one when the Murano Martini and the Watermelon and Rose Petal Crush are also on offer.

Visit Murano bar at 15 on Orange hotel at 15 Orange Street, Cape Town, or call 021-469-8000.

Not in Cape Town? Why not try a spectacular orange and sage martini at The Westcliff Hotel’s Polo Bar (011-481-6000) or a coriander cucumber ginger mule at Durban’s Czar (031-312-8001 )?
