Tyger Valley shopping centre was abuzz with media and celebs at the launch of Cape Town’s newest shopping destination – a gorgeous Gap store! Champagne filled glasses and troves of canapés floated about the room and gave the experience an air of class – and we’d have expected no less from Gap. With an exclusive preview and shopping experience, guests were able to browse, buy and socialise.
It’s taken Gap forty-nine years to reach South African shores and launching in cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town and Pretoria. “We are excited to bring Gap’s casual American style to more customers in Africa and introduce South African consumers to the brand’s store experience,” said managing director of strategic alliances for Gap Inc, Stefan Laban. He added “South Africa is the natural next step for expanding our store footprint on the continent. The country has a thriving economy and high Gap brand awareness, so we believe there is tremendous opportunity for us in the market.”
The stores will provide access to collections such as Gap international, GapKids and BabyGap.
