We will always love you

February 13, 2012

The My Love is Your Love songstress, and internationally acclaimed superstar, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the Beverly Hilton Hotel at 3.55pm on 11 February, after she was unresponsive in attempts to revive her. Her untimely passing has left the world in shock – not least her 18-year-old daughter.

Whitney’s body was identified by family and friends, but a reason for her death has not yet been given. The troubled songstress had been staying at the hotel ahead of a planned performance at record executive Clive Davies’ pre-Grammy party. She was seen partying and drinking with friends on Friday night, and appeared to be in good spirits. Her struggle with drugs and the pressures of fame, however, have been well-documented, and the star was said to be on the brink of bankruptcy, the result of her battle with addiction.

Hours after her death, her 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina – who she had during her volatile marriage to Bobby Brown – tried to see her mother’s body but was denied access by police.

Meanwhile a teary Bobby took to the stage for a planned concert in Mississippi. At the end of one song, he looked up at the sky, where he blew a kiss and shouted, “I love you, Whitney.”

Whitney and Brown were married from 1992 to 2007, and the pair were known for a volatile relationship that included periods of heavy drug use.

It is so tragic when life ends in such an untimely way – a reminder to us all how fragile life can be.
