GLAM Chat: Thithi Nteta

Fashion blogger Thithi Nteta has become a familiar face on GLAMOUR.co.za. After featuring a few of the fashionista’s things she loves in ‘Today we’re loving…’, we’ve most recently featured a sneak peak into her wardrobe in her ‘Style Diary.’

GLAMOUR: How would you describe your style?

Thithi: I would describe my style as casual-glamour, but with a twist. I like transitional clothing, items you can wear from season to season or from day to night. I like contrasts too, so as I don’t like to be too girly, I often wear dresses and skirts with sneakers as daywear.

Why do you love fashion?

I think playing dress-up with my mother’s clothes made me love fashion! My sisters and I used to walk up and down the corridors wearing blouses and shoes that were way too big for us – and now we actually wear some of those clothes we used to swim in. It’s really cool how fashion is cyclical and conjures up so many memories – how you can feel like someone completely different because of something you’re wearing.

What are five things you can’t live without

1. Liquid eyeliner and concealer

2. Red Bull – I don’t sleep

3. Nailpolish

4. Sunglasses

5. My compact mirror

Whose style inspires you?

I like Solange Knowles, Clemence Poesy, Karen Blanchard and Olivia Palermo’s style. I wouldn’t say their style inspires me, because I really just wear what I like, but I do look a them and think: “I love what she’s wearing.”

G: What’s your favourite fashion splurge?

Shoes and handbags!

What do you always keep in your handbag?

Concealer! I have dark circles underneath my eyes, which are genetic, but also a result of not sleeping.

What’s your beauty secret?

Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener. I have tried many of the other products from other brands that claim to do the same thing, but this is the best one I have used so far!

Any beauty products you can tell us about?

Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener (as mentioned above) and OPI Start to Finish Base Coat, Top Coat and Strengthener.

Where do you shop?

Thrift stores, Religion, Stuttafords and online stores like Asos and Solestruck.

What are your top tips for cost effective shopping?

Patience! This is required for both thrift and secondhand stores, as well as sales.

What’s your one tip for taking your outfit up a notch?

Statement accessories and sick shoes!

What makes you feel GLAM?

A pair of heels and a sweep of lipstick.
