If you’re in Cape Town and want to satisfy your sweet craving with something other than the usual cupcake or brownie, you’re in a for a treat! Hawks and Hounds have recently opened at the top of Long Street, and their specialty is large, delicious pancakes. Our favourite mid-afternoon treat would have to be the version that comes coated in a thick layer of Nutella, but there are plenty more fillings to choose from.
If you’ve got a not-so-sweet tooth, you’re still in luck: you can also get savoury crepes, and hotdogs like you’ve never had them before on crispy salted German bread rolls. The crepes are big enough to share – but trust us, they’re so delicious you won’t want to!
Pancakes start at R18, hotdogs cost R30, and there’s also a selection of beer, wine and bottled fruit juices on offer.
