Chanel

Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into an underwater spectacle of bleached white shells, sea horses and seaweed for Chanels s/s 2012 rtw collection. While the models emerged onto the runway from the heart of a shell, Florence Welch swayed like Botecelli’s Venus, singing ‘What the Water Gave Me.’ The bar had been set high for a collection that was to follow!

Dressed in delicate cream dresses of lace, and pearl encrusted tweed suits the models took to the runway. Their immaculate hair was gently dotted with pearls that glistened like water droplets. Jackets cut below the shoulder blades showed off the pearl-lined spines, and pearl strings hung gently as belts around the model’s petite waists. Dainty sequined dresses cascaded into pale green ostrich feather skirts, and pink chiffon rippled like scales lined in black. Clutch bags in the shape of pearl-encrusted or silver leather sea shells are surely to be next season’s most coveted item!

Definitely one of the highlights of Paris Fashion Week. We can’t help but always go crazy for Chanel!
