Giorgio Armani

Words: Emma van Braningen

September 30, 2011

As if enveloped by cool water, models in the Armani show walked serenely down the runway to the sound of crashing waves. The inspiration was indisputably the tranquility of the ocean as satin rippled into dresses and tops fell effortlessly across the shoulder. Each piece was slinkier than the one before in cool hues of grey, soft purples, pearl and blues, imbuing the midnight sea with the moonlight cast upon it.

Inspired by the East, kimono-style jackets were worn over slit pants, and the lines were simple yet delicate. Eveningwear glistened with intricate sequins that covered flowing dresses and plunging necklines. The daintiness of the collection made each of the models look like water nymphs fresh from glimmering waters.
